A royal biographer has said that Meghan Markle’s father and half siblings have “reduced the commentary of the Royal Family to something from the Jerry Springer show.”
Speaking to Yahoo UK‘s The Royal Box, Duncan Larcombe branded the Markles ‘tacky’ adding: “I think the public, certainly here in the UK, see that for what it is and that’s not Meghan’s fault.
“You can choose your friends, you can’t choose your family.”
The Duchess of Sussex has long been estranged from her half siblings Samantha and Thomas Markle Jr. The pair have repeatedly criticised Meghan on social media and during press interviews.
This weekend Samantha added further fuel to the drama when she announced on Twitter that there would be a second part to her tell-all book ‘In The Shadows of The Duchess.’
Meanwhile it’s believed that Meghan hasn’t spoken to her father Thomas Markle Sr. since her and Prince Harry’s wedding last May.
He was caught staging paparazzi photos for money and subsequently pulled out of walking his daughter down the aisle, reportedly due to health problems.
During his last TV interview with ITV’s Good Morning Britain in December, Mr Markle said he hoped the Queen will step in to help mend the rift between him and his estranged daughter.
In past interviews, he has revealed personal details about his relationship with Meghan and conversations he’s had with Prince Harry.
In comparison, Larcombe says Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland has “maintained a dignified silence,” since her daughter began dating Harry.
Ms Ragland was the only member of the former actress’ family to attend the royal wedding. She accompanied the bride in the car on the way to the ceremony.
She also joined Meghan for the launch of the Together cookbook in September, in support of the Hubb Community Kitchen.
Larcombe, who penned Prince Harry’s biography, thinks Doria will spend more time in London when Meghan and Harry’s baby arrives this spring.
He added: “She has done everything right in a way that Meghan’s father, unfortunately, maybe through ignorance rather than spite, has done everything wrong.”
