Meghan Markle shows off her sporty side as she and Prince Harry attend Coach Core Awards

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Loughborough University on Monday, where they met the graduates of the Coach Core awards.

Meghan, wearing a dark blue Oscar de la Renta draped blouse and Altuzarra trousers showed off her skills, as she and Harry joined the apprentices in a netball masterclass, ran by Eboni Beckford-Chambers.

The couple showed off their competitive sides as they joined different groups and at one point, Harry kept looking over his shoulder to see how his wife was doing.

Harry’s team might have won but there were no hard feelings as the pair shared a cosy hug, before chatting to this year’s graduates.

Before the ceremony, they also watched the apprentices take part in sports masterclasses coached by marathon runner Paula Radcliffe and British tennis star Laura Robson.

During his speech, Harry said: “Sport can inspire and invigorate, and as we have seen today, with the right opportunity, the right mentoring and the right focus, lives can be changed.”

Meghan added: “My husband has devoted so many years to Coach Core and in the past year of my being in the UK to be able to see not just the impact but the incredible inspiration and sense of purpose that this instills in people is astounding.”

Established by The Royal Foundation in 2012, Coach Core aims to harness the power of sport, and its ability to change lives and empower young people. It was created to inspire 16 to 24 year-olds who are not in education or employment, through sport and to train the next generation of sports coaches.

Sport England announced today they have awarded The Royal Foundation nearly £1 million of National Lottery funding to help even more people become sports coaches via Coach Core. The aim of the grant is to add 10 new sites in England over the three next years, to double their reach.

In March, earlier this year, Harry and Meghan visited the Nechells Wellbeing Centre in Birmingham to visit Coach Core apprentices, as they took part in a training masterclass, led by Create Development.

Last week, the Duchess gave a passionate speech during the launch of the charity cookbook she’s supporting, in relation to those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. She was joined by Prince Harry and her mother Doria Ragland for the luncheon within the grounds of Kensington Palace.

On Tuesday night, Meghan will attend her first solo engagement – the Oceania exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts.

Together, the couple are preparing for their first royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga next month.
