Meghan Markle brings back the suit for trip to Loughborough University
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at Loughborough University this afternoon for the Coach Core Awards – an event designed to celebrate the achievements of young people who have taken part in the programme.
The royal newlyweds joined more than 200 apprentices in a series of activities and team games prior to the awards ceremony but that didn’t stop the Duchess of Sussex wearing one of her chicest looks to date.
For the public engagement, Meghan finally brought back her go-to suit and opted for a £1,636 navy-hued blazer-style blouse by Oscar de la Renta – a designer she last wore to Prince Harry’s cousin Celia McCorquodale and George Woodhouse’s wedding back in June. In unsurprising news, the draped blouse has already sold out online courtesy of the ‘Meghan Effect’.
She teamed the royal blue number with ankle-grazing Altuzarra trousers (which look strikingly familiar to the ones she wore for the WellChild Awards 2018) and co-ordinating heels – which she didn’t even take off prior to netball training.
In an admittedly more surprising move, the 37-year-old eschewed her go-to messy bun in favour of straightened locks for the outing. It’s notably the first time she’s championed the look since wedding Prince Harry on May 19.
Over in the accessories department, Meghan kept things simple with a £295 shell necklace by Pascale Monvoisin to finish.
Coach Core was established by The Royal Foundation – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s organisation – back in 2012. The programme gives apprentices aged between 16 and 24 the opportunity to become sports coaches in the future.
Later in the afternoon, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to mingle with sporting stars including tennis player Laura Robson and marathon runner Paula Radcliffe before Prince Harry gives a speech.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were last spotted on September 24 at Kensington Palace for the launch of Meghan’s first solo royal endeavour – ‘Together: Our Community Cookbook’.
For the event, the Duchess championed close friend Misha Nonoo’s eponymous fashion line in a pleated skirt by the designer. She finished the autumn-ready look with a $1,195 (approx £697) powder blue coat by Canadian label Smythe and a $110 (approx £82) Tuxe body.
