See Meghan Markle’s handwritten thank you note to bakery featured in Vogue

The Duchess of Sussex sent a sweet thank you note and gift to the women of the Luminary Bakery, who feature in the September issue of British Vogue she guest edited.

The Stoke Newington business provides training for women from disadvantaged backgrounds, who have been victims of sexual or domestic violence.

Founded by Alice Williams in 2013, the bakery’s six-month training programme teaches women how to bake and they are educated on food hygiene, time and money management and computer literacy.

Luminary Bakery posted a handwritten note from Meghan, 37, on their Instagram, including a personalised notebook embossed with ‘Forces for Change’ - the title of Vogue’s September issue.

It reads: “Dear Alice, When I knew I would be secretly guest editing the September issue of British Vogue, including Luminary Bakery was non-negotiable. The work you do, what you represent to the community, the spirit of the women there - you all embody what it means to be “forces for change”. Thank you for being a part of this special project.”

Royal fans were quick to congratulate the bakery on being included in the magazine, with the post receiving more than 700 likes in less than 24 hours.

Meghan did calligraphy as a side gig when she was first starting out as an actress. She even wrote Robin Thicke and Paula Patton's wedding invitations in 2005 and Dolce & Gabbana's celebrity correspondence, she told Esquire in 2013.

The duchess is also no stranger in the kitchen, having included recipes on her now defunct lifestyle blog The Tig.

She also wrote the foreword to the Hubb Community Kitchen’s ‘Together’ cookbook, launched last September. The book has raised over £500,000 in funds to benefit the community affected by the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.

Meghan also baked banana bread for an engagement in engagement in New South Wales on her and Harry’s Australia tour last year.
