Fans desperate to get their hands on Meghan Markle's banana bread recipe
Meghan Markle has inspired people all over the UK to bake banana bread.
The Duchess of Sussex, who last week announced she is pregnant with her first child, whipped up a banana loaf last week ahead of an engagement in New South Wales, Australia.
Accompanied by husband Prince Harry, she took the cake – which contained chocolate chips and ginger – with her to visit the Woodleys, a five-generation farming family.
According to the Daily Mail the cake was three-quarters finished before the couple had even left.
And it’s not just the Woodley family the sweet treat proved popular with, according to Waitrose data.
Searches for banana bread recipes have gone up 52 per cent on the site in the past week, since word of Meghan’s baking has got around.
What’s more, people are particularly interested in following Meghan’s ginger-spiced twist on the classic, with one particular spiced banana loaf recipe – which contains both cinnamon and ginger – seeing page hits rise by 137 per cent.

This isn’t the first time Meghan, a renowned foodie, has inspired others to cook.
Earlier this year, Meghan launched a charity cookbook featuring recipes from the Hubb Community Kitchen, a group of women affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

It seems she has even inspired husband Prince Harry to cook. She revealed in their joint engagement interview last year that Harry had proposed while they were roasting a chicken.
