Meghan Markle pairs LBD with messy bun at Women's Empowerment reception
On Thursday evening, Meghan Markle attended the Women’s Empowerment reception with her fiancé Prince Harry.
The event – hosted by UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson – was held as part of a series of events this week with the Commonwealth Heads of State. It follows the couple’s appearance at the Commonwealth Youth Forum in London on Wednesday.
The bride-to-be met with representatives from charities that work to promote gender equality through girls’ education, such as Plan International, the Varkey Foundation, Code Camp and the Malala Fund – one of the charities the couple have chosen to honour for their wedding.
For the evening event, the 36-year-old wore a belted sheath dress by LA-based brand Black Halo, named the ‘Jackie O Dress’ costing £267, which she paired with the Milano pumps by her go-to brand Aquazzura.
Meghan accessorised with Gucci’s Dionysus suede super mini bag costing £590.
Meghan appeared to ignore the naysayers by wearing yet another sleeveless dress, after being subjected to online abuse after stepping out in a pinstripe Altuzarra dress on Wednesday.
She swept her hair up into a messy bun – another of her go-to style statements that continues to divide fans – and completed the look with a glittering pair of 18-carat white gold diamond earrings by Birks.
