Meghan Markle takes on biggest royal engagement yet in shoulder-bearing dress and power blazer
Today, Meghan Markle gave the nation a sneak glimpse at her future role within the royal family.
The bride-to-be joined Prince Harry at the Commonwealth Youth Forum in London for the first time and the momentous occasion marks her first major royal engagement, as it is unusual for a non-royal to take on such a high-profile event.
In his newfound role as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, Prince Harry is responsible for supporting ‘the work and aspirations of young people across the Commonwealth, on both UK engagements and overseas tours to Commonwealth countries’.
In his debut speech on Monday, the 33-year-old told the audience that he is ‘incredibly grateful’ that the ‘woman I’m about to marry’ will soon join him in his new role. And the crowd couldn’t resist a congratulatory cheer, to which he blushed.
For her debut appearance at the event, the former actress certainly made sure she made it one to remember on the sartorial front.
Markle welcomed the sunshine (it is the hottest day of the year so far, after all) in a £1,450 pinstripe midi dress by Altuzarra and teamed the look with a £491 Camilla and Marc blazer draped across her shoulders (as all major fashion players do).

In terms of accessories, the former actress donned co-ordinating £334 heels by Tamara Mellon and eschewed royal tradition in favour of a cross-body bag by Australian label, Oroton.
With a more affordable price tag of £171, we predict a sell-out.
CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) is a summit in which all leaders in charge of the 53 Commonwealth nations, discuss current issues and policies.
Most notably, this year’s event is significant as it is expected to be the last one Queen Elizabeth II will ever attend.
Her Majesty – who turns 92 next week – no longer travels abroad and the upcoming summit was moved to London in order for her to attend. It is widely speculated that at next week’s biennial summit, the issue of who will succeed her will be debated.
Tomorrow, the soon-to-be newlyweds will attend a Women’s Empowerment reception hosted by Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson to discuss the future of girls’ education with leading charity organisations.
