Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon proudly rocks armpit hair at Met Gala 2021
Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon proudly showed off her armpit hair at Monday's Met Gala.
The model, 24, opted for a glittering fuchsia Moschino ensemble by Jeremy Scott, which included a bikini halter top and matching skirt both covered in sequin embellishments, for her arrival at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
While posing for photographers on the iconic staircase, Leon proudly lifted her arm over her head to reveal her armpit hair.
And why not?
While the model's striking outfit was a fashion moment in itself, it was the way she unapologetically flaunted her armpit and body hair while posing for the pictures at the star-studded affair that undoubtedly stole the show.

Leon's mother has pushed beauty boundaries for decades – and now it seems her daughter is making her own statement.
Madonna was one of the originators of the armpit hair trend.
“I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite. I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in 2011. “I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits.”

Last night's Met Gala appearance wasn't the first time the model has flaunted her body hair.
In November 2018, Leon clocked up headlines when she showed off her unshaved armpits and legs on the red carpet at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Gala, just weeks after she turned heads for the same reason on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week.
Earlier this year, in February, she also showed off a glimpse of armpit hair in a new fashion campaign for Marc Jacobs.

Leon's appearance at the 2021 Costume Institute Gala comes after she appeared in the September issue of Vogue for the magazine's feature story, Generation America: The Models Changing An Industry.
She was photographed alongside Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Precious Lee, Anok Yai, Ariel Nicholson, Sherry Shi and Yumi Nu.
"People think I'm this talentless rich kid who's had everything given to her, but I'm not," Leon told the publication.
This year's Met Gala theme is In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion, and it honours the 75th anniversary of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Leon's sassy debut at the Met Gala offers further proof that being your authentic self is the very best way to rock a red carpet.
