Overloading on Christmas music isn't good for you
As soon as the calendar signalled the 1st November, you may have noticed that shops officially deemed it festive season and didn’t hesitate to bring on the Christmas music.
But according to a clinical psychologist, playing our beloved tracks on repeat could prove bad for our mental health.
Expert Linda Blair told Sky News: “People working in the shops at Christmas have to [tune out] Christmas music because if they don’t, it really does stop you from being able to focus on anything else.”
She continued, “You’re simply spending all of your energy trying not to hear what you’re hearing.”
And music psychology researcher, Dr. Victoria Williamson, confirmed the theory.
She revealed that there is a ‘U-shaped relationship’ between the amount of times we hear music that we like and our subsequent reaction to it.
Now, we don’t know about you but this is a risk we’re willing to take.
