Kensington Palace reveals date for Prince Louis' christening
It’s been almost three months since we got the first glimpse of Prince Louis in his mother’s arms on the steps of the Lindo Wing.
Now, royal fans can add his christening to their diaries.
Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince Louis’ christening will take place on July 9 2018.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce that the christening of Prince Louis will take place on Monday 9th July at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, London.

The service will take place at The Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace; the same church his brother Prince George, four, was baptised in.
St James’s Palace is the most senior royal palace in the United Kingdom and the Royal Court is still formally based there, despite the Queen living elsewhere.
It’s also the London residence of Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Alexandra.
Prince Louis will be christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.
It’s expected that members of the public will line the streets outside St. James’s Palace to join the royals in the celebration, though only senior members of the family will sit in the church for the service.
Key family members will include Prince Louis’s parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the newlywed Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Queen and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton.
We hazard a guess that Prince Louis will wear the same Honiton lace and white satin gown worn by older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The intricate gown in a replica of the 172-year old original which was deemed too delicate for further use.
The original was worn by the Duke of Cambridge, grandfather the Prince of Wales and great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth.
What was Prince George’s christening like?
Prince George, who was born on 22nd July 2013, was christened just over three months later on October 23.
The third in line to the throne was christened in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London in an intimate ceremony with just 22 guests.
Prince George has seven godparents, all who played crucial roles on the day.
His godparents include friend of the Duke and Duchess Oliver Baker, the Duchess’s close friend Emilia Jardine-Paterson, British aristocrat Earl Grosvenor, former Private Secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, British psychotherapist and paediatric counsellor Julia Samuel, friend of the Duke of Cambridge William van Cutsem and Prince William’s cousin Zara Tindall.
The service was conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
What was Princess Charlotte’s christening like?
Princess Charlotte was christened on 5th July, just over two months after her birthday on May 2nd.
Unlike her brother, Princess Charlotte was baptised at St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
This was the same place her late grandmother Princess Diana was baptised.
Charlotte’s christening was made a far more public affair, with members of the public lining the street leading up to St. Mary Magdalene Church to give their well-wishes.
Again, senior members of the royal family were present along with Princess Charlotte’s godparents.
Her godparents include Prince William’s close friends Tom van Straubenzee and James Meade, Kate’s lifelong friend Sophie Carter, William’s cousin Laura Fellowes and Kate’s cousin Adam Middleton.
Like her brother, Charlotte also wore the same Honiton lace and white satin gown Prince George had worn two years earlier.
