Duchess of Cambridge stuns in a familiar off-the-shoulder dress for charity gala dinner

The Duchess of Cambridge looking stunning in an off-the-shoulder gown to attend the first annual gala dinner in recognition of Addiction Awareness Week (10 - 16 June).

The rain didn’t put Kate, 37, off from wearing the repeat Barbara Casasola number, first seen in 2016 for the Art Fund awards.

Casasola is a London-based, Brazil-born fashion designer, who previously worked for Roberto Cavalli.

The duchess teamed the figure-hugging dress with her glittery Jimmy Choo pumps and a new metallic clutch bag from Wilbur & Gussie for the dinner at Spring Restaurant at Somerset House in London on Wednesday night.

Kate has been patron of Action on Addiction since January 2012, a charity which helps people with a range of addictions at its treatment centres and community programmes.

Before the dinner, the duchess met with Action on Addiction clients who are working as apprentices in the kitchen, and who worked with Spring Restaurant’s head chef and owner Skye Gyngell to create the evening’s meal.

Kate also gave a speech ahead of the dinner, in which she said that working with Action on Addiction “was the catalyst” for her interest in child development.

She said: “Trauma experienced in early childhood, in some cases, as a result of separation, abandonment, abuse, or even emotional neglect, can have a lasting effect.

“What we experience during our earliest years, even while we’re still in the womb, shapes the developing brain.

“It is therefore vital that we support everyone who cares for children in those formative years, especially if we want to help with the inter-generational cycle of addiction.”

The duchess praised the charity’s “vital work being done to help all those affected by addiction feel able to access help, hope and freedom from their addiction.”

On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Cumbria in North West England, to celebrate the resilience and spirit of rural and farming communities in the region.

Kate and William met locals in Keswick before visiting a farm, where they tried their hand at sheep-shearing.

The duchess donned casual-wear for the trip, which included a Troy London jacket and See By Chloe boots.
