You wouldn’t imagine that the same dress would work for both a ritzy party in London and a country affair in rural Norfolk, but then again the Duchess of Cambridge seems to have an uncanny knack of making fashion work for any occasion.

Stepping out for the second time in a pale blush, shimmery gown by British designer Jenny Packham, the Duchess brought a touch of glamour to the Norfolk countryside as she attended a fundraising gala for East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH), for which she is a patron, at Houghton Hall.

Pairing the sequinned, sheer cap-sleeved gown with her trusty nude LK Bennett peep-toe, nude heels, a prada box-clutch bag and delicate, chandelier diamond earrings, the Duchess added a touch of grown-up elegance to her look, by sweeping her hair into a loose chignon.

For the glitzy gala dinner, Kate was accompanied by her husband, Prince William, who also looked smart in a black dinner suit complete with oversized bow tie.

The pair enjoyed a special five-course meal created and cooked by Michelin star chefs: Galton Blackiston, Sat Bains, Claude Bosi, Tom Kerridge and Mark Edwards, and the gastronomic extravaganza provided the couple with the opportunity to joke about Kate’s culinary skills.

On arrival, Kate joked that William was looking forward to enjoying a break from her cooking

“William has to put up with my cooking most of the time,” she told the chefs.

Before William quipped in response: “It’s the reason I’m so skinny.”

Kate first debuted the gorgeous Jenny Packham gown almost exactly five years ago at an ARK gala dinner at Kensington Palace in June 2011, just after her marriage. First time round she kept her hair in loose waves, but wore the same nude heels.

Jenny Packham is fast becoming one of the Duchess’ go-to designers for key events and engagements. Famous for her floaty and feminine designs, Kate turned to the designer for her leaving hospital outfits after the birth of both Prince George and Princess Charlotte, as well as her royal tour of Australia and various other fundraising and royal events.
