Duchess Of Cambridge Makes First Appearance At Ascot (Wearing A Big Hat, Naturally)

There were whispers that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge would put in an appearance at Ascot for the first time this year and we can now reveal that the rumours were true: The mum-of-two is indeed enjoying a spot of gambling and a rather big hat at Royal Ascot today.
Wearing a beautiful white midi dress and matching headpiece, the Duchess has been photographed arriving at the Surrey grounds and enjoying a family day out with her in-laws - including the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince William (who’s looking rather dapper in a three piece suit and top hat), Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Prince Charles and Camilla. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is also at the iconic British event, having arrived in the same carriage as Sophie.

So what does one wear to her first Ascot outing? A stunning white lace dress from Dolce & Gabbana, apparently.
Expertly striking a balance between being fashionable and being formal, Kate looks stunning in the calf-length number, which she’s paired with nude pumps, pearl earrings and a boxy clutch.
She’s completed the look with a rose-studded hat from Jane Taylor, which sits atop her low chignon.

The dress might look familiar as it’s the same one the Duchess wore to the Windsor Horse Race last month (we all know she’s a fan of re-wearing formal dresses). However, last time Kate wore the Italian number out she teamed it with a red jacket that obscured the majority of it.
Unsurprisingly, it sold out within minutes of her wearing it in May - despite its hefty price tag.

It’s been a busy week for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Not only have they been in attendance at several royal engagements to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, they were also pictured paying their respects to the victims of the Orlando massacre at the US embassy in London and attended a royal garden party last night.
