Is The Duchess Of Cambridge Bringing Hair Nets Back?

Hair nets might bring back memories of ballet exams and gelled-to-perfection buns. Or perhaps they remind you of your grandmother. Whatever springs to mind when someone says “hair net”, it probably isn’t the Duchess of Cambridge.
But the 34-year-old, who has become something of a global style icon in the past five years, sported one during a commemorative service at the Somme yesterday - so they must be back in fashion, right? After all, if Kate gives them the royal seal of approval then hair nets ahoy, we say.

The Duchess is just as known for her picture-perfect hairdos as she is her style. Her beautifully sculpted chignons are infamous, but clearly even Kate’s locks needs a little support some time. And if there was ever an occasion where the mum-of-two needed her hair out of her face and neatly tied up it was yesterday when marking the 100th year anniversary of the battle of Somme.
Kate’s not the only influencer who’s made use of a subtle net to keep her hair in place. Up and coming model Lottie Moss (Kate’s baby sister) rocked one on the red carpet in Cannes recently, using the barely-there netting to keep her low slung bun in place at the nape of her neck.

Perhaps we should add a bunch of hair nets to our shopping basket next time we’re in Boots…
