There’s something inherently fascinating about baby name trends.

Whether, you’re a parent-to-be looking for some naming inspo, or you want to call dibs on a moniker for your future baby, the clever bods at Netmums have put together a list of names they expect to be big in 2018.

And while the fashion for gender neutral names looks set to continue, with Henley, Mason, Dalston and River all appearing on the hot-name list, mums-to-be are also rediscovering a love of old-fashioned monikers with Rex, Sylvie and Theodore all having a hip-over.

Other inspo for popular baby names in 2018 includes the royal family, with Harry, George, and Charlotte all expected to be a top choice and wildlife and nature with Willow and Fox also expected to be making the naming must-list.

Meanwhile, parents-to-be who want to nod to the regal but want to shun actual royal names could give their babies the powerful-sounding King.

Mums and dads-to-be are also expected to show a continued preference for classic faves like Emma and Finn.

Speaking about the predicted baby names list Netmums editor in chief, Anne-Marie O’Leary said:

“The top baby names for 2018 are based on recent celebrity births, such as Jamie and Jool’s Oliver’s new baby boy, ‘River’ and ‘Rumi’ one of Beyonce’s new twins, plus names that are trending in the Netmums forums.”

“There is also a growing trend for names which are based on nature, the weather or animals, such as ‘Willow’ taken from the name of the tree, Sylvia, which means ‘spirit of the wood’ and Aria which translates as ‘air’ in Italian.. And for the boys, River, Forrest and Fox also all follow a natural theme.”

Maybe Kylie Jenner or the Duchess of Cambridge will take some inspo from the list?
