Gogglebox star announces engagement with ‘disaster’ proposal story
Gogglebox Ireland star Danielle Grufferty has announced she's engaged to her girlfriend of five years, Naomi, after popping the question on a beach in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria earlier this month. The TV star had been planning the proposal to her childhood sweetheart since June, even practising the engagement by placing the ring on her colleague's finger.
However, all the practise didn’t help on the day, as she revealed on the show how she accidentally placed the ring on the wrong finger. Not only that, she then temporarily lost the ring later in the sand. Speaking on the moment on the show, the star said: "It was a disaster. Went on the beach, do it on the beach, it was grand. Got down on the knee, started crying, it was all good.”
“Put it on the wrong finger. Then I took it off the finger to put it on the right finger and I dropped it in the sand. And I had to doggy paddle through the sand.”

Despite all the mishaps, Naomi said yes, and the couple are now in the early stages of wedding planning, which her father Des said “would be a big party.” In regards to her family, Danielle had only revealed her engagement plans to her brother Alex, which came as a surprise to her mum Laura, and dad Des. "I have nothing to do with this!" he exclaimed as her parents expressed their shock. You're some snake,” he laughed.
Joyous fans took to social media to congratulate the happy couple, as one penned: “Congratulations Danielle & your fiance x” A second exclaimed: “Aw congratulations to you both what fabulous news.”
Naomi’s auntie also appeared to take her congratulations to social media, as she commented: “No gettin away now danny . U have to call me aunty ger now,” alongside numerous laughing emojis.
Fans of the show have watched Danielle grow up on screen as she first appeared when she was just 12 years old. She first met Naomi when they were both children playing football, however, they didn’t become acquainted until Danielle became friends with Naomi’s cousin. She’s previously spoken about how she had to chase her now fiancée for two months before she agreed to go on a date.
Danielle has also previously been open about how she had recently experienced men shouting at her and her girlfriend, calling them "dirty lesbians,” leaving fans proud of the star for opening up publically.
