Harry Redknapp has backed Liverpool to emerge victorious over Arsenal this weekend - but not without aiming a sly dig at Arne Slot's style of play.

The former Premier League manager believes the Reds will emerge as 2-1 winners over their title rivals at the Emirates Stadium, becoming title favorites in the process, but the Anfield faithful might not wholeheartedly agree with his other comments on the side.

Slot has done magnificently since taking over from club legend Jurgen Klopp ahead of this season and perhaps exceeded even his own expectations with seven wins from the first eight games of the new top flight campaign, leaving his side top of the table.

However, while Redknapp backs the Reds for success, he suggests that Slot's players are yet to catch the eye as much as they did whilst under the previous manager.

Giving his prediction to BetVictor ahead of the game, the 77-year-old said: "What a game this is set to be! Things haven’t been right for Arsenal of late. Even before last week’s red, they’ve been winning games by the odd goal and haven’t been as dominant of late.

"I think they badly miss Martin Odegaard’s class and composure in the final third and they seem to be accumulating more injuries.

"Liverpool may not catch the eye as much as they did under Jurgen Klopp, but they look organized, they have the league’s best defensive record and that’s not by accident. A win here and they probably become the title favorites.

"No William Saliba is massive. His absence probably cost them the title a couple of seasons ago and I think it’s bound to be a factor here, he’s just that good. I think Liverpool edge it and Mohamed Salah could be the difference, particularly if it looks like Riccardo Calafiori will be out as well."

It's fair to say that there have been noticeable changes in Liverpool's style of play since Slot took over, with the Dutchman more focused on a possession-based way of playing, but the Reds have still been great to watch nonetheless.

However, as long as Liverpool keeps winning and picks up another three points this weekend, in particular, there won't be many more complaints over Slot's way of managing this season.

As Redknapp mentions, the Reds have been handed a major advantage ahead of the game due to Arsena's torrid luck with injuries, yet the former West Ham and Tottenham manager believes there is one player on Liverpool's side who will be the game changer.

"Curtis Jones was terrific last week," he said. "It was probably the best game of his career. He’ll be looking for more of the same here."
