Five outfits in 24 hours for fashion-forward Duchess of Sussex

It’s been an incredibly busy 24 hours for the Duchess of Sussex. And equally busy for celeb hairdresser George Northwood and private secretary Amy Pickerill, who have travelled to Dublin with the royal.

Meghan started out yesterday with an appearance at the RAF centenary service at Westminster Abbey in London.

For the occasion, she wore her first Dior outfit: a retro inspired, fit and flare look with her signature boat neckline. A Stephen Jones hat completed the look.

Both items are thought to be bespoke, so the exact cost of the look is unknown. However, we do know that her Cartier earrings come in at around the £5,200 mark.

Just a few hours later, the Duchess landed in Dublin in a bespoke Givenchy skirt (bespoke, but thought to cost around £1,105) with pockets and a new, tan Strathberry tote (£525).

She’s previously toted around a tri-colour bag from the Scottish label, so is clearly a fan of their designs.

A couple of hours after that, Meghan changed into a little black dress by Emilia Wickstead (bespoke, but likely around the £1,500 mark) paired with Aquazzura heels she wore previously to the Queen’s Leaders Awards and the Givenchy clutch she took to Royal Ascot last month.

Today, for day two of the Dublin visit, the Duchess started out in a custom, grey Roland Mouret dress.

Featuring an asymmetric, waterfall effect, the dress was almost identical to the style the 36-year-old wore the night before her wedding.

A Fendi bag, costing £4,900, and a pair of Birks earrings, ringing in at £9,046, finished the outfit.

For her final look, worn to visit Croke Park, Meghan changed into a tailored Givenchy suit, comprising a cropped blazer and pleated trousers.

Who pays for Meghan’s wardrobe?

With custom ensembles from Dior, Roland Mouret, Givenchy and Emilia Wickstead in her fashion arsenal, Meghan’s wardrobe doesn’t come cheap.

So, who foots the bill?

Fortunately for us, it’s not the tax payer. Instead, Prince Charles is behind the Duchess’ wardrobe.

The 69-year-old receives an income of approximately £20 million from stately home, the Duchy of Cornwall, which he splits with Prince William, Prince Harry, the Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan.

It’s well worth the spend. The former actress’ wardrobe has the power to pull in £500 million a year according to Brand Finance.
