Airline launches speed dating ‘flight to nowhere’
With travel being almost non-existent in 2020 (thanks, Covid) airlines have had to be inventive.
Earlier this year, Australian airline Qantas launched a ‘flight to nowhere’ concept which saw passengers take in the sights of Uluru, the Great Barrier Reef and the Sydney Harbour Bridge during a seven-hour flight for the cost of $787 (£433).

Royal Brunei Airlines also launched an 85-minute ‘dine and fly’ experience, with passengers able to take in the island of Borneo from the air.
The latest, from Taiwanese airline EVA Air, is a ‘flight to nowhere’ for singles looking for love.
The matchmaking flights, aptly called ‘Fly! Love is in the air’ will see passengers partake in speed dating while on board the flight.

Three romantic flights are scheduled so far across the festive season, one on Christmas Day, one on New Year’s Eve and the third on New Year’s Day.
The flight scheduled for Christmas Day will see passengers explore the east coast of Taiwan and enjoy an afternoon tea on arrival back at the airport.

On New Year’s Eve, guests will enjoy a dinner before counting down to the clock striking 12 and on New Year’s Day singles can mingle over breakfast to herald a ‘fresh start’.
Passengers can forget regular plane food, too, as each of the on-board meals will be prepared by Michelin-starred chef Motoke Nakamura.

The way the speed dating will work is that passengers will be randomly assigned seats and can move about as they please.
Available only to Taiwanese residents aged between 24 and 38, tickets will be given out on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis and cost TWD8388 (£221) each.
