Drinking wine is the key to a long life, says 100-year-old woman
For those who like a little tipple in the evening, this is for you.
A woman who recently celebrated her 100th birthday has revealed the key to reaching such a grand old age.
Florence Bearse from Maine was visited by local TV station WLBZ during her 100th birthday celebrations.
When asked how she had reached a century of life, she wittily replied: “I like my wine. Don’t take it away from me.”
It’s unclear exactly which wine she’s been drinking for her entire life but she did receive a bottle for her birthday.
The 100-year-old also had some further advice for making it to triple figures. “Don’t take any baloney,” she commented.
The health benefits of wine are a little all over the place. A recent study revealed that just half a glass of wine each day could increase your chance of breast cancer by as much as 9%.
Other researchers have found that wine can do everything from preventing strokes to keeping you slim.
Perhaps we should just take Florence’s advice and drink away. Or maybe, for her, ignorance is bliss.
