Baby-wearing Carrie Johnson stands out in red dress during Boris' resignation speech
Carrie Johnson supported husband Boris, while wearing her six-month-old daughter Romy in a carrier on her chest, as the prime minister (PM) made his resignation statement today.
Boris, 58, confirmed he is resigning as leader of the Conservative Party, and planning to stay in No 10 as caretaker PM until October when a successor takes over.
Carrie, 34, was seen smiling as she stood alongside Nadine Dorries while listening to her husband's televised speech to the nation.
Dorries, secretary of state for digital, culture, media and sport, was seen saying hello to Romy, and speaking to both mother and daughter during the moment.
Carrie wore an eye-catching fit and flare red midi dress, which featured a subtle polka dot print and puff sleeves, while cradling her daughter in a grey BabyBjörn carrier, leaving her hands free.

The Johnsons welcomed their second child in December 2021, with a spokesperson for the couple saying at the time,“Both mother and daughter are doing very well. The couple would like to thank the brilliant NHS maternity team for all their care and support.”
The prime minister did not take an extended period of leave following Romy’s birth as he battled a series of political scandals, as well as the spread of the Omicron variant at the time.
The new addition to their family followed the environmental campaigner opening up about having a miscarriage earlier in the year.
She reportedly wrote on her private Instagram at the time, “Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas. At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken. I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I’ve also felt like a bag of nerves.”

Carrie and Boris also share son Wilfred, two, who they welcomed in April 2020.
The pair married during a secretly-planned wedding at Westminster Cathedral in May 2021.
Boris also has four children with his barrister ex-wife Marina Wheeler.
He also has a seventh child, Stephanie Macintyre, daughter of Helen Macintyre.

While it unknown when Carrie first became romantically involved with Boris, the first reports of their relationship were in September 2018. This was around the same time the (now resigning) prime minister and his then wife Marina Wheeler announced they had separated “some time ago”.
Carrie rose in the spotlight as Johnson's significant other after attending Boris' Conservative party leadership campaign in June 2019.
She is the daughter of Matthew Symonds, co-founder of The Independent, and Josephine McAffe – who worked as a lawyer for the publication.

Carrie Johnson is not Boris' first wife, with him previously being married to Wheeler.
His children's names from this marriage are Lara Johnson-Wheeler, 29, Milo Arthur Johnson, 27, Cassia Peaches Johnson, 25, and Theodore Apollo Johnson, 23.
His children's names from Carrie in full are Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson and Romy Iris Charlotte Johnson.
His other child is called Stephanie Macintyre.
