The Cambridge's newborn is the heaviest royal baby in 100 years
Today, the Cambridge’s welcomed the fifth member of their family: a baby boy weighing 8lb 7oz.
The Royal household announced the news via their Twitter account, revealing the royal baby had been born at 11.01am.
The new baby Prince of Cambridge is the heaviest of both his siblings, weighing a pound more than Prince George (8lb 6oz) and three more than his sister Princess Charlotte (8lb 3oz).
All three of the Duke and Duchess’s babies weighted more than the UK national average of 7lb 7oz.
The new Prince – who is fifth in line to the throne – is the heaviest royal to be born in the last 100 years.
However, the heaviest noble newborn in recent years is Savannah Phillips – the daughter of the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips – who does not technically hold a royal title.
Savannah was born at 8lb 8oz in 2010.
The new royal baby’s father, Prince William, weighed 7lb 1.5oz when he was born in 192, while Prince Harry weighed 7lb 6oz in 1984.
Prince Charles weighed 6lb 14 oz in 1984.
The new addition to the Cambridge brood was born today with the world’s eyes watching.
Hundreds gathered outside the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital for the arrival.
