This Bride Asked Her Bridesmaid To Dye Her Red Hair Brown To Match The Colour Scheme

When you’re asked to be a bridesmaid you know you’re going to have to tow the wedding line a bit. And if that means donning a frothy peach frock for your bestie’s big day, well who are you to argue?
But one bride-to-be has given a whole new meaning to the term bridezilla by insisting her bridesmaid actually dye her hair for the big day. The reason? Her naturally ginger hair would clash with the colour scheme. Wait, what?
The email request read, “You’ll need to dye your hair for the day, I’ll take you to my hairdresser and cover the cost,” before signing off with a happy face emoji.
Taking to Reddit to ask for advice about her dilemma the bridesmaid who goes by the user name bridehairthrowaway wrote “I’m a natural ginger, so it’s not like I have an outrageous hair colour.”
“She told me my hair would clash with the wedding colours and that brides get a veto over pretty much every aspect of her bridesmaids’ appearances.”

The anonymous bridesmaid went on to say she’d been told her hair is quite “attention-grabbing” and that the bride felt it would “take away from the cohesiveness of the group.”
The proud ginger asked Reddit users if she was being unreasonable in not wanting to dye her hair for someone else’s big day. And, unsurprisingly the response was a big fat NO!
“This is some serious bridezilla nonsense,” wrote one woman. “Tell her that you’d have to live with this change for long after her wedding day is over and you are not willing to do it. She’ll stand out anyway. She’ll be wearing a wedding dress.”
“You are not being unreasonable at all! I’m planning my wedding now, and I’d NEVER ask bridesmaids to dye their hair! This is bridezilla-level shit, like she’s scared of being upstaged by her ‘maids, so she’s making crazy demands,” added another bride-to-be.
“I guess OP can count herself lucky the bride isn’t asking the whole bridal party to get the same nose job.” Another commenter quipped: “That’s in the next email.”

But that wasn’t the end of the story because in a twist that wouldn’t be out of place in a Hollyoaks plotline it turns out that the reason the bride was being difficult wasn’t actually anything to do with her bridesmaids hair clashing with the colour scheme, but in fact because the groom has a fetish for women with red hair! OMG!
In a further post, the bridesmaid explained:
“A little bit of background, Ella has been with her fiancé Pete (27ish?) since she was 15, he was (and I assume still is) a friend of Charles, which is how Ella and Pete met,” she wrote.
“Charles called me and informed me that Pete has a redhead fetish. It’s something they always joked about in their teens (although that joking stopped when Pete began dating his younger sister). Ella actually dyed her hair red (something I sort of remember) for several years in her teens but it basically became too Charles would bet this is why she’s requesting I dye my hair.”
The potential bridesmaid went on to say that she had decided to pull out of her position as bridesmaid.
“I will probably not be going to the wedding at all. The whole situation is just too weird and uncomfortable, I’m assuming there’s no coming back from this.”
Ok, so she may not have got to go to the wedding, but this has to go down as a victory for put-upon bridesmaids everywhere. Oh, and for the ginger population!
