Ant McPartlin's ex Lisa Armstrong makes rare TV appearance on Strictly's It Takes Two as she reveals 'chaos' backstage
Ant McPartlin's ex Lisa Armstrong made an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing’s It Takes Two tonight, to open up on her role as the show’s makeup designer. Lisa, 48, is head of make-up and hair on the hit show - helping to transform the pro dancers and celebrities on the dance-floor week every week.
On Wednesday night, 6 November, Lisa dazzled in a black sequinned jumpsuit as she appeared on the spin-off show to chat to host, Janette Manrara. She opened up on the ‘chaos’ backstage of the hit BBC favourite, particularly on recent shows such as Halloween Week and Icons Week.
She said: "They are pretty full on and it is chaos in the hair and make-up room. It’s just being able to be so creative really, no holds barred, it’s literally like playing dress up every week."

She added: "It's so much fun, it’s hard work" but she gushed: "It's just brilliant, best job in the business."
Lisa - who has worked on Strictly for 17 years - also picked out Movie Week as a fun episode to work on. She revealed opera singer Wynne Evans' - who is paired with Katya Jones - transformation into Mrs Doubtfire was her favourite.
Laughing, Lisa said: "I have to say, Wynne was one of my favourites from when he was [dressed as] Mrs. Doubtfire. He looked so good! He just took on the character, and that’s what I love."
She continued: "You know we will have normal weeks where it is just normal, glam makeup, but then to actually bring that character to life, with the hair and makeup, and they really become the part - it was exactly like the time we had Halloween and the Joker with Pete [Wicks] and Jowita [Przystał]. He really took that character on board."
After her rare TV appearance, Lisa took to Instagram to share a selfie on her Stories. She wrote alongside the snap: "Thank-you for having me @bbcstrictly #ItTakes2 and thanks for the glam @sburrowsmakeup."
Lisa and ex-husband Ant split in 2018, after 11 years of marriage.
Also on It Takes Two tonight, Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden said the foot injury that caused her to pull out of the competition was “nothing to do with any previous health scares”.
Amy returned to competing in the BBC show for its 20th anniversary series after missing out last year while undergoing cancer treatment. Speaking to Janette, an emotional Amy said: “This injury could have happened to anybody.
“I want to stress it’s nothing to do with any previous health scares.”
The Welsh dancer also said: “Hopefully I’ll be back dancing in some capacity, maybe in a group number, by the end of the series.”
