Amanda Holden's low-cut Britain's Got Talent dress wins most Ofcom complaints of the year award

In June, Amanda Holden attracted a whole load of complaints for the plunging dress she wore during the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ semi-finals.

The £11,250 Julian Macdonald gown plunged almost to the waistline, causing the 46-year-old to be branded a “stripper” by some disapproving members of the public.

Within 48 hours of the show airing, the dress had received over 200 complaints to TV watchdog Ofcom.

Since then, viewers have continued to moan, racking up the number of complaints to a huge 663.

That makes Amanda Holden and her fashion choice the most complained about thing on TV in the whole of 2017.

It’s more than Ofcom received for ‘Comic Relief’ in March which saw Russell Brand swear and comedian Vic Reeves show off a fake penis before the 9pm watershed.

Holden was expecting plenty of negativity, even going so far as to predict her own downfall.

Before donning the low-cut design, she said: “Will people be complaining to Ofcom? I hope so, I really do. I haven’t done my job if they aren’t.”

In 2016, Holden – along with fellow ‘BGT’ judge Alesha Dixon – received 90 fashion-related complaints.

Despite all of the furore, Ofcom voted in the TV personality’s favour, saying they wouldn’t investigate further as Holden’s choice of clothing “would not have exceeded most viewers’ expectations.”
