DC FanDome: Who's playing who in James Gunn's 'The Suicide Squad'?
James Gunn used the DC FanDome panel for The Suicide Squad to confirm the identities of the characters being played by each of the cast members.
Gunn also updated on the post-production process for the secretive film, which he described as “by far the most fun I have ever had making a movie”.
Filming wrapped in February and Gunn said he has been hard at work on the edit since then.

The 54-year-old filmmaker unveiled a mammoth “roll call” video running through the key members of the film’s enormous cast.
Margot Robbie is back in the cast as Harley Quinn after her work in the 2016 Suicide Squad and this year’s Birds of Prey, joined by some returning stars and many, many new faces.
The full cast list included in the roll call video was:
Viola Davis as Amanda Waller
Joel Kinnaman as Colonel Rick Flag
Michael Rooker as Savant
Flula Borg as Javelin
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
David Dastmalchian as Polka Dot Man
Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2
Idris Elba as Bloodsport
Steve Agee as John Economos and the on-set King Shark
Mayling Ng as Mongal
Peter Capaldi as Thinker
Alice Braga as Solsoria
Steve Agee as on-set King Shark
Pete Davidson as Blackguard
Nathan Fillion as TDK
Sean Gunn as Weasel
Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang
John Cena as The Peacemaker
Gunn welcomed many of the cast members to the panel for a video call quiz, testing their knowledge of the lore around the Suicide Squad in DC Comics.
Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman took on the roles of hyper-competitive team captains, while most of the participants just took the opportunity to make jokes at the expense of Michael Rooker.

Notably absent was Taika Waititi, who appeared on the announced cast list in the roll call video, with social media speculation suggesting he may be providing the voice for King Shark.
Steve Agee was confirmed to be the “on-set King Shark” — in a similar role to Sean Gunn as Rocket Raccoon in the MCU — but no voice actor was announced.
James Gunn referred to Steve Agee as the "on set" #KingShark in #TheSuicideSquad (like Sean Gunn is the on set Rocket in the MCU). Did Gunn mention the voice of King Shark? I'm guessing that's Taika Waititi. #DCFanDome pic.twitter.com/LSybidEU66

I'm guessing Taika Waititi is voicing King Shark? I am confused by their refusal to tell us this

Asked by Margot Robbie how The Suicide Squad was shaping up, Gunn said the movie was “the most fun I’ve ever had”.
“I love the movie and the studio is overwhelmingly happy with the movie,” said Gunn.

He added: “The action is great, it’s funny and it’s really dramatic in the right places and very touching.
“Down the line, it’s just the greatest cast I have ever worked with by far. Every single person is amazing.
“It’s a once in a lifetime thing for me. It was a blast to make.”
Gunn also unveiled a behind-the-scenes teaser reel, giving fans their first look at some of the movie’s colourful characters.
John Cena’s Peacemaker was described by the actor as “a douchey Captain America”, while producer Peter Safran said the film is “a gritty 1970s war movie combined with the brilliance of James Gunn’s characters and comedy”.
It certainly sounds like the movie will be very different to David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad movie, which scored mixed critical reviews despite its solid commercial performance.

The DC FanDome panel also yielded more details of Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, who has the “most weapons” of any character in the film and is in prison for shooting Superman at the beginning of the movie.
Gunn was enlisted to helm The Suicide Squad during the period after his firing from Marvel when controversial past tweets were unearthed.
He has since been brought back into the Marvel fold to helm the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but he will complete his commitments with DC first.

Earlier this year, Gunn revealed he was offered his pick of DC projects — including a possible Superman film — but opted to pick The Suicide Squad.
The Suicide Squad is due to be released into cinemas in August 2021.
