Pete Davidson reveals he wore a 'big, uncomfortable costume' on 'The Suicide Squad' set (exclusive)

Pete Davidson has revealed he wore “a big, uncomfortable costume” for his part in upcoming comic book movie The Suicide Squad.

The comedian and Saturday Night Live cast member has his first starring role in a film with this week’s Judd Apatow comedy The King of Staten Island.

He has also wrapped filming on James Gunn’s superhero movie — a soft reboot that follows up on David Ayer’s divisive 2016 Suicide Squad.

“I was in a big, uncomfortable costume,” he told Yahoo Movies UK when asked what the main differences were between his two recent movie projects.

“I think that would be a big difference. I got to hold Glocks and stuff like that.”

Despite the very different scale of the two movie projects, Davidson said they were actually “very similar” when it came to how much he enjoyed being on set.

The 26-year-old star said: “They were both really fun to work with, everybody was really open and honest and the cast and crew was just so much fun.

“Honestly, I've been really fortunate and lucky to have great experiences with both films.”

The Suicide Squad has one of the most packed ensemble casts in recent years, with the likes of Idris Elba, John Cena, Taika Waititi, Nathan Fillion and David Dastmalchian joining the fray.

They join returning cast members including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg.

In The King of Staten Island, Davidson plays a 20-something slacker who is stuck in an arrested development limbo living with his mother (Marisa Tomei), years after the death of his firefighter father.

For the star, the movie — which he co-wrote with Apatow and Dave Sirus — has personal resonance, as he lost his own firefighter father on 9/11.

The cast also includes Bel Powley, Bill Burr, Maude Apatow and Steve Buscemi — himself a former member of the fire service.

The King of Staten Island is available to rent at home from 12 June.
