Yahoo Movies James Gunn up for seeing David Ayer's 'Suicide Squad' re-cut before his sequel lands
James Gunn would be up for seeing director David Ayer's re-cut of Suicide Squad before his sequel, The Suicide Squad, hits screens.
The Guardians of the Galaxy helmsman was asked by a fan on Twitter about his thoughts on Ayer's recent call for his cut of the movie to be released by Warner Bros.
And it seems he'd be cool with it.

Ayer himself then chimed in on the chat too.

Gunn’s movie will feature Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn alongside Viola Davis’s Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag and Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang, and is set to land in August, 2021.
Talk of re-cuts in the somewhat troubled DC Extended Universe are very much of the moment, however, following news that Zack Snyder's fabled version of Justice League will get an actual release next year on HBO Max (at vast expense to Warner Bros).

Just as Snyder's movie suffered due to a sub-par theatrical cut, Ayer has said that his movie did too, on its release in 2016.
Following the poor reception that greeting the humourless Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, Warner Bros was said to have feared the dark tone of Ayer's finished movie.
Re-shoots took place and other editors were brought in to deal with the perceived issues, much to the despair of Ayer.
The director said earlier this week that a re-cut of his version of Suicide Squad would be 'easy' to put together.

Meanwhile, the boss of Warner Bros has said that the figure of $30 million which has been bandied around as the cost of Snyder's version of Justice League is something of a lowball.
He told the Recode Media podcast: “It isn't as easy as going into the vault and there's a Snyder Cut sitting there to put out... Zack is actually building it and it's complex, including - and I don't wanna get into too much detail that we haven't already talked about yet - but, new effects shots.
“It's a radical rethinking of that movie and it's complicated and wildly expensive. Which is, of course, a number I won't quote... I'll just say I wish it was $30 million and stop there.”
