Gina Carano says the surprise cameo by Luke Skywalker in the final episode of The Mandalorian wasn’t even divulged in the movie’s script.
The internet-breaking reveal of Mark Hamill’s hero as the Jedi who answered the call of Baby Yoda — we still can’t bring ourselves to call him Grogu — was somehow kept a complete secret.

It seems that level of espionage extended to the cast, as revealed by Cara Dune actor Gina Carano in a recent interview with Drunk 3PO.
“I started finding out about it in the makeup trailer, basically, because you’re like ‘oh wait, who’s that?’ because they didn’t say it in the script,” said the 38-year-old actor.
She added: “Everybody that has worked on The Mandalorian is insane, like insane Star Wars fans. And they have the shirts, and they’re like ‘wait a second’. So, everybody starts doing a little whispering.
“On set for that whole thing… it felt magical… there was like electricity happening in the room, there's just a specialness about it that you feel sometimes as an actor.”

Hamill said on social media after the episode aired that it was “a real triumph for spoiler-haters” that Luke Skywalker’s cameo remained under wraps.
He added: “The fact that we were able to keep my involvement a secret for over a year with no leaks is nothing less than a miracle.”
Max Lloyd Jones provided the physical body for Luke, with Hamill’s face added digitally to replicate the appearance of Skywalker in the aftermath of Return of the Jedi.
The show is pressing ahead with a third season, but spin-off show The Book of Boba Fett is set to arrive first — debuting later this year.
Disney announced the spin-off with a post-credits scene at the end of The Mandalorian, in which Temuera Morrison’s bounty hunter was seen taking control of Tatooine.

This lays the groundwork for Fett to lead his own series, while the main show follows the continued adventures of Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin — with or without his adorable adopted child.
Disney+, meanwhile, is set to expand its Star Wars offering with series for Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Rogue One character Cassian Andor — as well as several other projects.
