All the Disney Investor 'Star Wars' announcements: From Hayden Christensen to 'Rogue Squadron'

Thanks to the online Disney investor event yesterday, the list of new Star Wars projects is unfolding like a vast opening crawl.

We've had updates about projects we know, as well as MASSIVE curve balls in the form of new projects we knew absolutely nothing about.

There will be 10 – count 'em – news Star Wars series in the pipeline.

Impressive. Most impressive.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Perhaps the biggest news is that Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker (aka Darth Vader) in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, will be joining the Obi-Wan series with Ewan McGregor. Says Christensen: “It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker. Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all. I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back.”

Rogue Squadron

After proving her blockbuster chops on the Wonder Woman movies, Patty Jenkins will helm Rogue Squadron. The director herself says it all best. And if this doesn't give you chills, you're doing it wrong. It's due at Christmas, 2023.

Andor

We've now got our first look at Andor – the Rogue One spin-off series fronted by Diego Luna's rebel spy Cassian Andor. It looks Mandalorian-worryingly exciting. The cast includes Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, and production kicked off three weeks ago in London.

Lando

Solo might have choked – unfairly – at the box office, but nonetheless Donald Glover will be back as suave smuggler Lando Calrissian in his own spin-off series, to be made by Dear White People’s Justin Simien.

Ahsoka Tano

Though she's only just been introduced into the live-action Mandalorian series, Jedi master Ahsoka Tano, played by Rosario Dawson, will get her own spin-off series from Mando exec-producer Dave Filoni, to debut in 2022.

Untitled Taika Waititi project

Not much on this at the moment, but after directing a Mandalorian episode (and voicing the bounty hunter droid IG-11), we're all over Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder director Waititi joining the Star Wars universe. “Taika’s approach to Star Wars will be fresh, unexpected, and…unique,” said Lucasfilm boss Kathy Kennedy. “His enormous talent and sense of humour will ensure that audiences are in for an unforgettable ride.”

The Acolyte

Creator of cult Netflix hit Russian Doll Leslye Headland is behind this Star Wars 'mystery-thriller' series, exploring dark powers during the final days of the High Republic.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch

The maverick clone crew first introduced in the Clone Wars animated series will get their own show, taking on mercenary missions across the galaxy.

Star Wars: Visions

Another animated project, Visions will bring Star Wars and the world of anime together, with the leading Japanese studios creating a series of pioneering animated shorts.

A Droid Story

R2 and Threepio will front this animated series, a collab with the iconic Industrial Light & Magic studio, with a project 'at the intersection of animation and visual effects'.
