Classic Jurassic Park dinosaur returning for Jurassic World 2
One of Jurassic Park deadliest dinosaurs is set to make a triumphant comeback in ‘Jurassic World 2’.
Leaked set photos from the ‘Jurassic World’ sequel have revealed the poison-spitting dilophosaurus will return to the franchise for the first time since the original 1993 film.
Here we go! A clear pic! Thanks guys for those who were able to help brighten it and make it look good. #JurassicWorld2 pic.twitter.com/vz2e3X2D6p

Last seen tearing Wayne Knight’s Dennis Nedry to shreds in Steven Spielberg’s dino-classic, the dilophosaurus briefly appeared as a hologram in 2015’s ‘Jurassic World’, but now it looks like it’ll be returning in the flesh to terrorise the cast of the as-yet-untitled sequel.
Michael Crichton’s book and Spielberg’s subsequent film took a number of liberties with the anatomy of the dilophosaurus adding both the retractable neck frill and the ability to spit venom to differentiate them from the velociraptors. No evidence of those abilities have been found by palaeontologists.
The image of the dilophosaurus model was shared by Twitter user @RaptorChaser17 who seems to be stalking the UK set of JA Bayona’s blockbuster sequel like a raptor hunting its prey. They’ve unleashed a flurry of potentially spoilery snaps of the work in progress which is due to hit cinemas in June, 2018.

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong are joined in the sequel by James Cromwell, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Justice Smith, and Daniella Pineda. Colin Trevorrow, the writer and director of the 2015 franchise reboot, is producing the film having handed the directing reins over to J.A. Bayona (‘A Monster Calls’, ‘The Impossible’). The script has been written by Trevorrow and long-time writing partner Derek Connolly.
In 2015, Trevorrow suggested future ‘Jurassic Park’ films might not be set within the confines of a remote island or even a theme park, and Bryce Dallas Howard hinted that a genetic arms-race between competing companies could form the backbone of the ‘Jurassic World’ sequel.
‘Jurassic World 2’ is coming to cinemas in June, 2018. Find out what the cast of the first film told us about the sequel while promoting the DVD release below.
