Absolutely Fabulous Movie Is Biggest British Film Since Spectre
Time to crack open the Bolly (and the Stolly too, while you’re at it).
‘Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie’ has notched up the biggest UK box office opening since last year’s Bond movie 'Spectre’.
Arriving at the multiplexes last Friday, it’s made just over £4 million so far.

“We are thrilled that audiences have embraced Edina and Patsy’s big screen debut - it is a testament to Jennifer, Joanna and the talented team behind the film who really are absolutely fabulous,” said Cameron Saunders of the UK branch of Twentieth Century Fox.
The movie has received reasonably solid notices too.
It currently holds a respectable 'fresh’ rating of 82% on reviews aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.
“While the apocalypse continues in the real world, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie remains gloriously Botoxed in a time that austerity forgot, still drenched in Bollinger and bad behaviour,” said Kate Muir in The Times.
Added Robbie Collin in the Daily Telegraph: “While you can’t imagine the film ever making it to Cannes under anything other than its own steam, the jaunt proves to be a surprisingly worthwhile one.”
“It certainly makes better use of its armies of celebrities than was managed in Zoolander 2,” noted Geoffrey Macnab in The Independent.
The movie finds Jennifer Saunders’ Edina and Joanna Lumley’s Patsy fleeing the UK after accidentally Eddy accidentally kills Kate Moss by pushing her into the Thames.
Original stars like Julia Sawalha, June Whitfield, Jane Horrocks and Kathy Burke return, while there are celebrity cameos from the likes of Jon Hamm, Stella McCartney, Jean Paul Gaultier, Joan Collins, Barry Humphries and Jeremy Paxman.
It’s out now across the UK, and is released on July 22 in the US.
