David Hasselhoff Stopped Leonardo DiCaprio Joining Baywatch
‘Baywatch’ almost starred Leonardo DiCaprio.
According to the hit TV show’s producer, a 15-year-old DiCaprio was ready to join the show… but David Hasselhoff stepped in and put a stop to it.
“We actually had DiCaprio ready to be cast but David thought he was too old to play his son,” Michael Berk told the Hollywood Reporter. “David thought it would make him look older. He had a lot of concerns of that type.”

That’s right – Leonardo DiCaprio almost played David Hasselhoff’s on screen son.
Hobie Buchanan – the son of iconic lifeguard Mitch Buchanan – appeared throughout the series, and was played in Season 1 by Brandon Call. He was replaced by Jeremy Jackson from Season 2 onwards.
Of course, DiCaprio’s career hasn’t exactly suffered.
Now 41-years-old, the former ‘Baywatch’ hopeful is perhaps better known as the Oscar-winning star of ‘The Revenant’. And with a catalogue of impressive movies, ranging from ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and ‘Inception’ to ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, perhaps he did alright.
Still, it looks as though DiCaprio wasn’t Hasselhoff’s only concern…
And it seems he was also worried about Pamela Anderson.
“David said, ‘I don’t want a girl that’s been in Playboy, children watch his show’,” he explained… but fellow producer Douglas Schwartz thinks there was an entirely different reason he didn’t want Pamela Anderson on the show.
“She had these enormous breasts and David thought he would be upstaged by everyone looking at her breasts,” he laughed. “Which is what happened.”
Incredibly, David Hasselhoff was worried he might be upstaged by Pamela Anderson’s breasts… and if Chandler and Joey from ‘Friends’ are anything to go by, he couldn’t be closer to the truth.
Of course, there’s a new ‘Baywatch’ movie currently in the works with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the leading role. But this time, perhaps Hasselhoff is out of his depth. Joining The Rock is Alexandra Daddario, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra and Kelly Rohrbach.
David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson are rumoured for cameos.
‘Baywatch’ heads to cinemas on 12 May 2017.
