Welcome to For The Win’s 2024 WNBA season Week 11 power rankings.

It feels so good to be back ― back to talk about the chaos, the upsets and the DRAMA. There weren't any power rankings for Week 10 because, frankly, there were only a few days of action, and not much changed leading up to the Olympic break. But, the basketball gods have blessed us with absolute shenanigans as we return to WNBA action, and frankly, I blame the Phoenix Mercury for trolling Caitlin Clark.

It was a total pot-stirrer move that set the tone for the rest of the week, including Caitlin dropping 29 points and 10 rebounds during their matchup, Kelsey Mitchell also going off for 28 points, and the Fever suddenly look like a sleeper playoff team that could cause some chaos.

Here’s For The Win’s WNBA power rankings for Week 11:

12. Los Angeles Sparks (6-21)

I'm running out of words to describe just how badly the Sparks can't finish games.

I expected them to lose to the Liberty. Sabrina Ionescu starts hitting Olympic Turkish shooter celebrations, and you pretty much know the game is done. (Also, for very obvious reasons, it's pretty embarrassing stuff to see with Sanaa Lathan in the building.)

But losing to Chicago after having a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter and coming out flat against Las Vegas after the first half is leaving me pretty stumped. At this point, playoff hopes are gone, and the focus needs to be on getting healthy.

11. Dallas Wings (6-20)

SATOU IS BACK. I REPEAT: SATOU SABALLY IS BACK.

"The Unicorn" has returned, and she came bearing gifts: a Jaelyn Brown and Maddy Siegrist. Unfortunately, that meant the Wings could not keep Monique Billings AND Odyssey Sims, who both helped fill major gaps.

Satou showed some promise ― 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in her season debut ― but it wasn't enough to hide how badly the Wings' defense could use some help and how much they miss Odyssey on both ends of the floor.

10. Washington Mystics (6-21)

At this point, I'm not expecting much from the Mystics. I tried to remain hopeful for a long time, but like the Wings and the Sparks, injuries have not helped the team.

Washington did get back Brittney Sykes AND Shakira Austin ― HELLO! ― but I fear it's too late. Now, there are injuries to Karlie Samuelson and DiDi Richards to worry about.

9. Chicago Sky (11-16)

Watching the Chicago Sky feels like being on a roller coaster you've ridden thousands of times but are still shocked by. You know what to expect ― Angel Reese double-doubles and plenty of bursts from Chennedy Carter ― but my goodness, do the Sky miss Marina Mabrey. (It's almost like we called this when we graded the trade.)

It's fair to say Mabrey was inconsistent, but she was also an extra offensive threat beyond the arc, and it just feels like Chicago won't be able to compete in the playoffs without finding something to replace Mabrey's production.

8. Atlanta Dream (9-17)

The Olympic break did WONDERS for the Atlanta Dream. The team is nearly healthy (save some injuries to their bench), and it's paying off.

Atlanta beat the Seattle Storm with a 30-point performance from Rhyne Howard and a fantastic buzzer-beater from Tina Charles. Then, the team upset the Connecticut Sun thanks to a vintage double-double from Charles and a gritty stat line from Jordin Canada.

Don't call it a comeback. *LL Cool J voice*

7. Phoenix Mercury (15-13)

The Phoenix Mercury are still underwhelming, and I'm just not sure what to do with that information.

They beat Chicago twice this week, but when faced with real competition (Indiana), they folded. The Fever swept the Mercury during the season series, and that feels indicative of their season as a whole ― so much potential with a stacked roster and not enough production for it to matter in the big moments.

Will the real Phoenix Mercury please stand up?

6. Seattle Storm (17-10)

The Seattle Storm are in trouble.

I've been practically BEGGING the team to get it together because the Connecticut Sun have been totally unserious for several weeks. And what does Seattle do? Lose to Atlanta and the Fever ― in the same week. *face palm*

That's two fourth-quarter meltdowns to teams that the Storm are clearly better than and one awkward Noelle Quinn exchange with Christie Sides.

5. Indiana Fever (13-15)

I'm officially declaring it now: The Indiana Fever are the sleeper playoff team that the league should keep an eye on.

Don't say I didn't warn you, but I'm warning you: THE INDIANA FEVER ARE COMING. The Fever had one heck of week, knocking off the Mercury AND the Storm in pretty convincing fashion.

Rightfully, these sort of wins are what the team had in mind when they drafted Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark. But, the real unsung hero is Kelsey Mitchell, who has been BALLING all season long.

I don't expect championships (yet), but I could totally see the Fever winning at least one playoff series, and that would be a huge morale boost for a franchise that only won 11 games in 2023.

4. Connecticut Sun (19-7)

Remember when I said the Connecticut Sun are fraudulent? Yep. Still fool's gold, and adding Marina Mabrey didn't change any of that.

I'm not sure how the Sun expect to compete with teams like Las Vegas and New York when they soundly beat the Dallas Wings in one moment, but then lose to the Atlanta Dream in the next.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE, CONNECTICUT.

3. Minnesota Lynx (19-8)

The Lynx did what they were supposed to ― go into the break with a win and come back after the break and win some more, this time with a healthy Napheesa Collier.

This was the best-case scenario for the Lynx, whose defense has been less than stellar without Phee. But they managed to skate out of the week with two wins and no funny business as they head into a four-game stretch against potential playoff teams.

2. Las Vegas Aces (17-9)

The Las Vegas Aces are good enough to beat most teams in the WNBA right now. However, it feels like Vegas is a step behind the adjustments the New York Liberty made in the offseason.

General Manager Natalie Williams has yet to find enough pieces that stick and can boost the team's bench production. (In my opinion, the Aces, at minimum, could use another center.)

While leaning on the starters and a bench player or two may have worked during last season's WNBA Finals, I'm not convinced if the Aces see the Liberty again, Vegas will be able to keep up.

As if there was any doubt, the New York Liberty are the first team to clinch a playoff spot.

Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu have not experienced any Olympic fatigue, which is great news. However, New York is still without starter Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, who is still recovering from a knee injury.

Frankly, regardless of Laney-Hamilton's injury, I'm penciling in New York as the representative from the East in the WNBA finals, and what team meets them there remains to be seen.

PULL IT TOGETHER, EVERYBODY. THE NEW YORK LIBERTY ARE SERIOUS.
