Where does LSU baseball stand in NCAA Tournament projections after Texas A&M series win?
LSU baseball did what it desperately needed to do: It took a series win over the No. 1 team in college baseball.
At home this weekend, the Tigers took the first two games against top-ranked Texas A&M, cutting out all drama and clinching the series victory before the final day. A&M did go on to salvage a game Sunday at Alex Box Stadium, and while a sweep would've bolstered its prospects even more, LSU had already done its damage on the NCAA Tournament front.
"We're in the fight," LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson said after his team's series win against the Aggies.
In the past couple of weeks, LSU (32-18, 9-15 SEC) has played its way into the SEC Tournament field, which could be beneficial for it to try and grab a few more resume-boosting wins prior to Selection Monday. The Tigers have two conference series remaining, at Alabama (30-18, 10-14 SEC), who is currently projected into the field of 64, and at home versus Ole Miss (25-22, 9-15 SEC).
Both series are going to be good RPI opportunities for LSU, who sits at 34, while Alabama is at 12 and Ole Miss is ahead of it at 25.

So where do the Tigers stand in NCAA regional projections as pivotal series lie ahead of them? Let's take a look.
Where is LSU baseball in D1 Baseball NCAA Tournament projections?
Like Johnson said, LSU is in the fight. The Tigers, for the first time in several weeks, are in the conversation for which teams could land one of the final at-large berths in the NCAA Tournament.
This week, LSU is among D1 Baseball's "First Four Out" grouping along with College of Charleston, Louisville and California. That's a marked improvement for the Tigers in D1's projections, where it hasn't been in the conversation much during its SEC skid a few weeks ago.
The LSU-Alabama series this weekend, as D1's crew said in its podcast this week, will be one to watch.
Where is LSU baseball in Baseball America NCAA Tournament projections?
LSU's win over the Aggies shot it up Baseball America's projections but it still wasn't enough to make the cut for the current projected Field of 64.
The outlet lists the Tigers among its "First Four Out" group behind Xavier, Utah and in front of Cal. But holding that distinction is a far more important from where it was last week which was completely off the board.
