LSU baseball rallies again vs No. 1 Texas A&M to win 3rd straight SEC series
BATON ROUGE — For the second straight night, Texas A&M struck in the first inning against LSU baseball.
In Game 1 Friday, the top-ranked Aggies scored one run in the first and weren't able to hold a two-run lead as LSU rallied in the later half of the game to win, 6-4. In Game 2 Saturday, the Aggies spotted themselves a three-run advantage by the time the Tigers got their first at-bat. They still couldn't keep it.
LSU snatched the lead away in the seventh off a wild pitch and catcher Alex Milazzo scored to make it 4-3. Milazzo added to his team's lead in the eighth with an RBI hit before an RBI hit from LSU star Tommy White as LSU went on the win, 6-4 at Alex Box Stadium.
The Tigers (31-17, 9-14 SEC) clinch their third straight series win. LSU and the Aggies (39-8, 15-8 SEC) will close out the series at 1 p.m. CT Sunday.

In the third inning with two outs and his team staring at a 3-0 deficit, White scorched the second pitch he saw that at-bat over the fence in right centerfield to get the Tigers on the board. Jared Jones immediately followed up with a solo homer of his own to cut A&M's lead to one. Two batters later, Hayden Travinski scored Josh Pearson with a base hit that Texas A&M star Braden Montgomery booted in right field.
LSU's two-out offense was one of the main catalysts for winning the series last weekend at home against Auburn and despite trialing in the early going in both games so far to the Aggies, it's timely offense has come through in momentum spots.
The Tigers hit .400 (6-of-15) with two outs Saturday. White finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run.
Texas A&M star Braden Montgomery struggling through two games
Braden Montgomery was at the top of LSU's scouting report as he leads the Aggies in RBIs and tied for the team lead in hits coming into the series. Through two games, give the nod to the Tigers' pitching staff and their scout as they've held Montgomery hitless in back-to-back games.
In his last three games going to A&M's midweek game versus Tarleton State on Tuesday, the junior is 1-for-13.
LSU baseball starter Luke Holman finds stride when he needed to most
Luke Holman would surely like to forget the first inning happened, surrendering the three runs to the Aggies on two hits and two walks. His command started rocky and he wasn't getting borderline strike zone calls either.
LSU's starter flipped the switch from the second inning on, allowing one more hit while working his way up to 10 strikeouts. He kept the Tigers even with Texas A&M through the fifth inning.
Texas A&M offense sees mixed results with bases loaded
Coming into the game Saturday night LSU starter Luke Holman averaged less than one walk per appearance. But Texas A&M was able to take the junior righthander off his command early in the game, drawing five walks in the first four innings
Holman walked the bases loaded twice, in the first and fourth, but the Aggies could only cash in once. Ali Camarillo and Caden Sorrell drove in runs on sacrifices in the first frame but in the fourth after loading the bases with no outs, Holman struck out Ryan Targac, Gavin Grahovac and Jace LaViolette to work out of the jam.
