Updating Clemson ranking in college football polls after victory vs FSU in Week 6

CLEMSON — Clemson football rose from No. 14 to No. 11 in the US LBM Coaches Poll released on Sunday.

The Tigers (4-1, 3-0 ACC) received 818 points and did not receive any first-place votes. They are the second-ranked ACC team, finishing behind Miami, which is No. 6 with 1,085 points.

Clemson went up in the polls after defeating Florida State 29-13 on the road in its first road game on Saturday. It returns to action Saturday (noon ET, ESPN) against Wake Forest (2-3, 1-1) at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Two other ACC schools made the top 25: Pittsburgh (170 points) at No. 24 and SMU (123) at No. 25.

ACC teams that did not make the coaches top 25 poll, but received votes were Virginia (51 points), Louisville (2), SMU (14 points) and Syracuse (1).

Texas remained No. 1 in the poll, earning 1,364 points and 44 first-place votes, and Ohio State moved up to No. 2 with 1,330 points and 11 first-place votes.

The weekly poll is voted on by a panel of coaches chosen by random draw. Voters submit a top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place worth 24, and so on down to one point for 25th, according to USA TODAY Sports.

Clemson rankings update

In the AP poll, Clemson went from No. 15 to No. 10, receiving 861 points. It sits behind Miami (No. 6, 1,187 points) in the conference and is ahead of Pittsburgh (No. 22, 196) and SMU (No. 25, 165)

ACC teams that did not make the AP Top 25 but received votes were Syracuse (6 points, 35th on poll) and Louisville (4, 37th).

Texas rose to No. 1 in the AP poll, earning 1,516 points and 52 first-place votes. Ohio State moved to No. 2 with nine first-place votes.
