LSU football adds 2025 recruit Dilan Battle

BATON ROUGE – Notch another high school recruit that fills a need for LSU football.

Three-star defensive line prospect Dilan Battle, out of Arlington, Texas, pledges his commitment to the Tigers Monday, making his announcement via his X page. Battle picked the Tigers over offers from other schools such as Alabama, TCU, Missouri, Miami, Oregon, Penn State and others.

For LSU's 2025 recruiting class, it now has five defensive linemen committed, including four-star edge rushers Damien Shanklin and LaJesse Harrold, as well as three-star players Brandon Brown and Zion Williams, who is from Lufkin, Texas.

Battles clocks in at 6-3, 300 and is another big body that LSU is going to sorely need along the defensive after this season with the impending departures of Jacobian Guillory, Paris Shand, Bradyn Swinton, Gio Paez and Jalen Lee. The Tigers' depth on the defensive line already took a hit following the 2023 season when it lost three of its four starters to the NFL, forcing head coach Brian Kelly and his staff to attack the defensive line recruiting this cycle.

LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis, who come to Baton Rouge from coaching the same position with the Texas Longhorns the last couple of seasons, had already built a relationship with Battle and that connection bled over to Davis' new job.

The Tigers' 2025 class ranks No. 3 overall behind Ohio State and Alabama and they have 22 total players committed.
