LSU baseball, the reigning College World Series champions, look to strike up another deep run in the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

The No. 2 Tigers (40-21) take on No. 3 Wofford (41-8) in the Chapel Hill Regional on Friday (11 a.m. CT, ESPNU). No. 1 North Carolina (43-12) will play No. 4 Long Island (33-23) on the other side of the NCAA regional bracket.

Thanks to a hot finish to the regular season and in the SEC Baseball Tournament, LSU rides into Chapel Hill on a high momentum wave. Jay Johnson's club has won 18 of its last 24 games after many experts were doubting if the current champions were going to make the field of 64.

The last time the Tigers went on the road in the opening week of the NCAA Baseball Tournament was 2021, Johnson's first season in Baton Rouge, and they fell in the Hattiesburg Regional championship game to host Southern Miss.
