LSU baseball, after finishing the 2024 regular season on a high note and expounding that with a wild run to the SEC Baseball Tournament finals last Sunday, will hit the road to open the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers (40-21) are heading to the Chapel Hill Regional this weekend as a No. 2 seed at host national No. 4 overall seed North Carolina (42-13).

LSU coach Jay Johnson and his team will open regional play at Boshamer Stadium against No. 3 seed Wofford (41-18) at 11 a.m. CT Friday and the game can be seen on ESPNU. The host Tar Heels will face No. 4 Long Island (33-23) in the late game.

The Tigers have won 18 of their 24 games to make a run to get into the NCAA Tournament as most experts projected them out as late in the season as two weeks ago. They won five games in the SEC Tournament last week and fell to No. 1 Tennessee, 4-3, in the championship game. LSU, who won the NCAA College World Series last year, is now one of the hottest teams in the country and is primed to make plenty of noise at the Chapel Hill Regional.
