The latest on Georgia football offensive guard Tate Ratledge ahead of Florida game

Georgia football got back one starting offensive lineman in its last game.

Could it see the return of another for Saturday’s game against Florida in Jacksonville?

Offensive right guard Tate Ratledge has missed the last four games after TightRope surgery for a high ankle sprain.

Ratledge warmed up before the win over Texas on Oct. 19 and was available in an emergency role if needed, but didn’t play. Meanwhile, center Jared Wilson returned from a foot injury to start in that game.

Coach Kirby Smart on Monday addressed Ratledge’s status for Florida.

“We’re hopeful," Smart said. "We think he’s going to be able to give us something. He worked some last week, took some reps, did rehab over the weekend. ...Hopefully he’s rip-raring to go. I know he wants to play in this game. It is really important to him.”

Smart said on his radio show last week that Georgia’s other injured players aren’t close to returning.

“Most of our injuries have been significant that they’re out for quite some time,” Smart said.

Inside linebacker Smael Mondon has missed three games with a left foot injury.

Running backs Branson Robinson (knee) and Roderick Robinson (toe) remain sidelined, leaving Georgia with Trevor Etienne, Nate Frazier and walk-on Cash Jones at running back.

“Now with Branson out and Rod, it makes you nervous,” Smart said. “You want to be really smart in how you practice and what you do.”

Ratledge is still working through coming back from his injury.

Smart said last week the injury is “more significant,” than what Brock Bowers went through last season when he missed two games.

“He’s still limping,” Smart said. “You’re never completely healthy from those things for a while, but you get to the point that you can play, especially with someone with his playing experience, his knowledge, his ability to anticipate movements. He’s been able to get stronger in some other areas while he’s waited and he’s tried to keep his conditioning level up. I don’t know when he’s going to be 100 percent healthy. I don’t know when he’s going to be able to actually play, but he’s closer every day.”
