Ja'Marr Chase doesn't Griddy after first TD of season, vs Commanders on Monday night

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase scored his first touchdown of the season during the first quarter of the NFL Week 3 game against the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football at Paycor Stadium.

It was Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's 100th career touchdown pass. It was Chase's 30th career TD catch.

Burrow and Chase hooked up for another TD connection during the fourth quarter.

"I think it's fair to say Ja'Marr has been a bit frustrated to start the season," ABC play-by-play announcer Joe Buck said.

Chase did not celebrate the TD with the "Griddy" dance for which he's known. Last week, he said he had something else planned, but wouldn't share what. He did add that the "Griddy" has not been retired, and proved it when he did the dance after his second TD of the game.

Video of the first celebration, from the Bengals via Twitter:

Chase entered the game with 10 catches for 97 yards through two weeks, without a TD. He scored 29 TDs through his first three NFL seasons; 13 as a rookie, nine in 2022 and seven last season.
