Germany vs Greece prediction in 2024 Paris Olympic quarterfinals

Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the best player on the floor in this matchup. The Milwaukee forward leads all Olympic players in points per game (27) to go along with 7.7 rebounds, and it's no secret that Greece will look to feed him the ball.

But how much help will he get? Greece ranks last among the remaining teams in points per game (77.7), shooting percentage (42.9%) and 3-point percentage (30.3%).

The safe bet is to go with Germany, which has an elite scoring duo of Dennis Schroder and Franz Wagner that's surrounded by solid role players.

Prediction: Germany 82, Greece 76

Greece's brand of basketball is sound. Option A: Feed one of the best players in the world, even more so on a stage where fewer people can guard him, and let him dominate. Option B: Let Antetokounmpo act on that overwhelming attention, with the ball movement and shotmaking that's kept Greece competitive.

But Germany is deeper. And it has momentum, already soundly beaten a medal contender with a capable tandem in Wagner and Schroder. Wagner already proved that no inside presence elicits enough fear for him to shy from the rim. Schroder continues to make a living on islands.

The two should accentuate each other en route to a win — a few wins, really.
