Australia vs Serbia prediction in 2024 Paris Olympic quarterfinals

Justin Martinez, staff writer

Australia's Jock Landale is one of the most physical centers in the Olympics, but even he'll struggle to contain Nikola Jokic. The reigning NBA MVP is averaging 18.7 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Serbia also has another strong scoring option in Bogdan Bogdanovic, and it ranks second among the remaining teams in points per game (95.7). It should have enough firepower to outscore Australia, which looked underwhelming in group play.

Prediction: Serbia 89, Australia 81

Joel Lorenzi, staff writer

Nikola Jokic always elicits hope.

The Serbian team orbits around him. Coupled with a shooter unlike most teams have in Bogdanovic, and as strong a backup facilitator as most teams have in Vasilije Micic, Serbia's offense rarely dies.

Should Dyson Daniels find a way to sabotage Bogdanovic and his impact, it could add an interesting wrinkle. But that only slows Serbia's offense. Australia can only hope to plug Jokic's ability to maximize teammates, with effective role players like Nikola Jovic and Filip Petrusev lingering.

Prediction: Serbia 86, Australia 82
