FSU football's Patrick Payton partners with Powerade to launch 'Commitment Takes More' campaign

Florida State football's defensive end Patrick Payton landed his first NIL deal.

Payton is part of a newly launched Powerade marketing campaign titled 'Commitment Takes More.'

“I’m just blessed with the opportunity,” Payton told the Tallahassee Democrat. "We got it done last week, and I’m excited about the opportunity."

This marketing campaign includes other potential NFL prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, such as Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, USC wide receiver Zachariah Branch, and Iowa running back Kaleb Jonson.

Powerade released its new commercial on Thursday, featuring Payton and the other top college football players in the advertisement. For Payton, it felt like a dream to be in a commercial.

“It’s like when I was a kid, I watched all the athletes around the world doing commercials, wishing I was that one day," Payton said. "That is an opportunity that I would not take for granted."

FSU is partnered with Powerade/Body Armour. Last year, Jared Verse received an NIL deal from Powerade and is entering his rookie season for the Los Angeles Rams after being selected 19th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Payton follows Verse's trail as he enters his junior season for the Seminoles.

He registered 12 sacks and 12 pass deflections in his first two seasons at FSU. He came off an All-ACC performance last year and has emerged as a highly touted NFL prospect who could project to be a first-rounder in the NFL Draft.

FSU is coming off a 0-1 start after falling to Georgia Tech last Saturday during the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland.

The Seminoles are looking to bounce back and capture their first win as they face Boston College at Doak Campbell Stadium.
