Detroit Lions game today vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers in NFL playoffs: Time, TV channel, odds

Ford Field gets to host a second straight Detroit Lions playoff game today after not hosting one since its opening in 2002. Here's the time, TV channel info, betting odds and more for the Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an NFC Divisional round playoff game.

The Lions (13-5), the NFC No. 3 seed, host the 4-seed Bucs (10-8), renewing an old NFC Central Division rivalry with the Lions holding a 32-29 edge in 61 meetings. Tampa won the lone postseason battle in 1997. Both teams are coming off big-time wins in the wild-card round, with the Lions ending the longest playoff winless drought in the four major pro sports by defeating the Rams, 24-23; the Bucs have one day less of rest, having played Monday night in a 32-9 beatdown of the Eagles in Tampa.

These two teams matched up Oct. 15 in Week 6 in Tampa, with the Lions earning a convincing 20-6 win. Jared Goff was 30-for-44 for 353 yards and two scores and the Lions converted on 9 of 16 third-down attempts, but the running game was shut down (40 yards on 22 carries). The Lions this week remain dismayed at that number, despite Jahmyr Gibbs not having played in that one, and David Montgomery exiting in the second quarter with a rib injury. On the other side of the ball, Baker Mayfield was just 19-for-37 for 206 yards with an interception, as the Bucs were limited to 2-for-12 on third down.

But these are two different teams now than they were three months ago. Tampa Bay has a dangerous duo at receiver in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, and a second deep threat in Trey Palmer, whom Mayfield just missed on long balls in the first matchup against a suspect Lions secondary. Tampa Bay under head coach Todd Bowles loves to blitz, and we've seen what happens when Goff is under duress. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who will likely get a head coach job after the season, will have to come up with the right calls at the right time to help his quarterback.

The Lions are 7-2 at home this season, including last Sunday's playoff win; the Bucs are 5-4 on the road.

Detroit will once again rep its all-Honolulu blue uniform, with silver helmets, blue pants and blue socks. Tampa Bay will wear white jerseys with red numbers, pewter pants and its pewter and red buccaneer helmet.
