Detroit Lions NFL draft picks 2024: Full list of team's round-by-round selections
Here is a 2024 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Detroit Lions:
Round 1 (No. 24 overall, from Cowboys) — Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama: The home team jumps up five spots for the first-team All-American who features swagger, production and toughness. And the secondary looks a whole lot better with Arnold and Carlton Davis III joining 2023 second-rounder Brian Branch. But Arnold is the complete package, with sensational ball skills (5 INTs in 2023), smarts and a willingness to stick a ball carrier – all traits that will sing in Motown. And, like departed DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson, he can play just about anywhere in the defensive backfield. Draft tracker
Round 2 (61) — Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri: The NFC North champs continue to load up at corner after drafting Terrion Arnold on Thursday and trading for Carlton Davis III. Rakestraw's physical style should play in Motown. Draft tracker
Round 4 (126, from Packers through Jets) — Giovanni Manu, OT, British Columbia: The 6-foot-7, 350-pound Manu is considered a developmental prospect and one of the most unique talents in the draft. Draft tracker
Round 4 (132, compensatory selection from 49ers through Eagles) — Sione Vaki, RB, Utah: Vaki was one of the more versatile players in college football in 2023, lining up at both safety and running back. That background projects easily to special teams right away. His combine performance was slightly disappointing so this feels a bit early again for the Lions, especially considering how they've invested in the defensive backfield over the last two drafts. Round 6 (189, from Broncos through Rams and Bills and Texans) — Mekhi Wingo, DT, LSU: Detroit snags one of the better interior defensive linemen in the class many rounds after most analysts thought he'd be selected. His high motor and agility make up for his lack of ideal size. His initial burst is among the best in the class and offers another different dimension to the Lions' improving defensive line. Round 6 (210, compensatory selection from Eagles) — Christian Mahogany, G, Boston College: This is the best pick of Round 6. Detroit selects a guard many thought would be off the board by Round 3 with the No. 210 overall selection. Mahogany's outstanding power and above-average length make him a mauler in the running game. He'll need time to develop in pass protection and needs to play with more control but this is an incredible value for the Lions. Draft tracker
