Clemson football vs App State: Final score, highlights from Week 2 game
CLEMSON — No. 22 Clemson football defeated Appalachian State Saturday, winning 66-20 vs. Appalachian State at Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers (1-1) overwhelmed the Mountaineers (1-1) in the first half, outscoring them 56-13 and outgaining them 525-199. They exceeded 700 total yards, which is only the seventh time in program history.
Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik set a career high in passing yards with 378 and passing touchdowns with five. He added two rushing touchdowns too.
Clemson enters its open week before facing conference foe NC State on Sept. 21 at Memorial Stadium.

The Tigers rebounded from their Week 1 no-show to dominant the Mountaineers. It was an all around performance from the starters to the reserves as Clemson earned its first win of the season.

App State took advantage of Clemson's turnover on a punt. Michael Hughes helped the Mountaineers reach double digits, nailing his first kick attempt of the game.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney checked on the defensive lineman during the TV timeout. Woods exited the medical tent but did not have his helmet as he stood alongside Clemson staffers.

Clemson's defense forced another punt to give its offense a chance to score, and it did in six plays on its second drive.
Quarterback Cade Klubnik found freshman wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. again for 51 yards to get the Tigers inside the five-yard line. Klubnik scored a 1-yard quarterback keeper to give the Tigers another score.
