Central Bucks East football standout Mike Carroll transferring before senior season

Mike Carroll, the five-star football recruit who has committed to play at Alabama, won't be at Central Bucks East for what would have been his senior season this fall.

Instead, Carroll, along with his younger brother Liam, a rising sophomore wide receiver, have both transferred to national football powerhouse IMG Academy, a prep boarding school in Bradenton, Fla. Mike Carroll made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday afternoon.

"We are extremely proud of the outstanding education, coaching, guidance and support that was provided to Mike and Liam Carroll by our teachers, coaching staff, guidance counselors, and booster club," CB East head football coach John Donnelly said.

"What an incredible job they did and have always done supporting our student-athletes in the football program."

A text message sent to Mike Carroll seeking comment on the transfer was not returned.

Alabama Crimson Tide to welcome Doylestown's Carroll next season

The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Carroll, who transferred to CB East after his sophomore year at La Salle High, is ranked as the No. 1 interior lineman in the Class of 2025 and had numerous college offers, including from Michigan, Penn State and Georgia, before he decided to commit to play for the Crimson Tide.

Carroll, a second-team Suburban One League National Conference pick at guard last year, was expected to play on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Patriots in the coming season. Liam Carroll, who received a scholarship offer from Penn State in May, was also expected to play a big role in the fall.

But it will be next man up for the Patriots.

"We just returned from a successful team camp at East Stroudsburg where we competed against top-notch competition," Donnelly said.

"We came out of it with high spirits about where we are as a team and look forward to playing Ridley (in the season opener) on August 23."

The last Bucks County area player to transfer to IMG Academy was Pennridge's Phil Picciotti. Picciotti, a linebacker now playing at Oklahoma, made the move prior to his senior season in the fall of 2022.
