Arch Manning Heisman Trophy odds: Texas football QB enters race after breakout vs. UTSA

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning (16) lines up for a snap during the game against UTSA at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.

By now, it has been well-documented that Texas football has a quarterback narrative going on in Austin between Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning.

Saturday's 56-7 win over UTSA didn't help that case, as Manning put together a breakout performance after taking over for Ewers, who left the game with an oblique strain. The backup completed 9 of 12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns, adding three rushes for 53 yards and another score.

Manning's performance vs. the Roadrunners sparked the question among college football pundits — including Paul Finebaum — whether the quarterback can win the Heisman Trophy, despite not even starting a game to this point of the season.

Vegas added another twist to that discourse on Sunday morning, listing Manning among its latest odds to take home the most prestigious individual award in college football.

Here's the latest on who is the favorite for the 2024 Heisman Trophy, including what Manning's odds are to win it:

Arch Manning Heisman Trophy odds

Manning currently has the seventh-best odds on BetMGM to win the Heisman Trophy this year, at +1600.

Texas has not had a Heisman Trophy winner since Ricky Williams in 1998. Former Longhorns running back Earl Campbell also won the Heisman in 1977. The closest Texas has come to producing a Heisman winner since Williams in 1998 was runner-up finishes by quarterbacks Vince Young and Colt McCoy in 2005 and 2008, respectively.

To put Manning's rise in the Heisman odds into real perspective, the redshirt freshman quarterback had +10000 odds to win the Heisman at the start of the season.
